Biography: Bill Scurato, also known as Anthony Scurato, retired in 2007 from New Jersey public education following a 34 year career which included engagement as a speech correctionist, classroom teacher, instructional supervisor and administrator. Scurato is the founder (along with his late wife, Carolyn) of the Country Gate Playhouse, a community theatre located in Belvidere, New Jersey. Established in 1972 Country Gate has provided cultural and educational opportunities for the local community for nearly 40 years. In addition to acting and directing numerous productions at the Playhouse, Scurato has authored a series musical production opportunities for young performers. These include Tom Sawyer, That Weird Kid and Pollyanna. Scurato has also written and directed a score of mystery dinner theatre productions. These scripts have been produced throughout the United States and have even enjoyed a few overseas engagements. Also, he has written and produced a two part theatre vehicle in deference to his home state called Jersey Diner. For many years Scurato was known to local radio audiences through the â??80â??s and â??90â??s as â??Buffalo Billâ?? on WCRV AM, licensed to Washington, New Jersey. In this role he deejayed country music and appeared at local events such as the Warren County Farmerâ??s Fair and various community and business promotions. He is currently the host of a weekly theatre podcast, STAGES.
