Biography: Zakiya S. Kyles, Ms. Queenly and Confident, has been empowering women and impacting the lives of girls for as long as she can remember. She is the classy country girl from Louisiana with the style and persona of a New York socialite.
In 2007 the name Queenly and Confident was given to her as a way to promote and the champion real-size women causes and concerns. While Zakiya is a confident real-size woman, she realizes that not all women have come full-circle in learning to love self and Discover the Royalty Within. She feels it is her life calling to catapult women and girls to love self, celebrate self, and pass that love along to others.
For the last 10 years she has cultivated and supported communities with Girl Scouts by creating and implementing contemporary programs to serve girls in urban communities in Louisiana with Diva Girlz and Indiana with Princess Parties.
In Atlanta, she serves as an advisor for the Middle School Initiative for Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta which produced GEMS-Girls Excelling in Middle School and Gamma Gamma Sigma the first sorority for middle school girls.
With a heart for the community and volunteerism, Zakiya believes in reaching back, to give back to the community, the nation, and beyond. She has worked tirelessly with her church, New Life to enhance the life of others from displaced and indigent residents of Metro Atlanta to teaching Sunday School with Middle School students. She coordinated efforts for the first annual Queenly and Confident clothing drive to support transitional residents of My Sister's House in Atlanta, GA. In November 2011 Zakiya will travel to Liberia Africa for a mission trip with New Life.
This forward and innovative thinker has used her fashion sense and creativity; sparked by coordinating events with her mother's business Let's Celebrate? to coordinate hair and fashion shows for Nolley's Salon 913 in Monroe, LA and Ser'Jays Salon in Dallas, Texas. Zakiya is gearing up for the first annual Excellence in Hair and Fashion Show slated for spring 2011.
Zakiya which is Swahili for "Intelligent Young Lady" holds a Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication from Grambling State University and taken courses graduate levels courses with the University of Phoenix and Strayer University. She has extensive training on the development and needs of girls through training with Girl Scouts of the USA; she is an experienced trainer and completed a training program with The Fundraising School at the Center of Philanthropy of Indiana University. She is a 2006 graduate of United Way of Allen County's Project Blue in Fort Wayne, IN which develops minority board members for nonprofit organizations.
Zakiya Kyles-Ms. Queenly and Confident lives in Atlanta and enjoys writing poetry, reinventing herself, attending poetry readings, traveling, and of course shopping! She is the oldest of 4 born to Bobby, Sr. and Brenda Kyles and the TT Kiya of 2.
Zakiya is available for speaking engagements, image and makeover consultations, and public-speaking workshops with girls through BOLD and other opportunities that need the royal treatment.
