Biography: Who is Ogy Joe? That is an excellent question. When I find the answer, I will let you know. For now, I will tell you what I know:
Ogy Joe was a simple man, and then he decided to go to a local battle of the bands. He was so impressed with one band (Mink), that he went back to the venue the following week and found another great band (Del Giovanni Clique). Before long, he was judging at a band battle in Murfreesboro, and spending three to four nights a week at shows, even though he was driving two hours to get there. Between the battle of the bands he was judging and the other shows he was attending (including road trips with Mink), he was becoming friends with many local bands (such as Ligion, Thaxton Ward, Full Tilt Auto, Lovers Red, Lower Level, Medicine Mann, August Christopher, 44 Vegas, Butter and Sugar, The Spectacles, and more), and even the DJs of 102.9 the Buzz.
In October of 2003, Ogy Joe decided to open a website to keep Nashville informed on what was going in the local music scene. He had a fairly comprehensive calendar, and a large mailing list. He posted all the hundreds of pictures he took at shows, and always got compliments on them. Everywhere Ogy Joe went, people knew his name. He was always shocked when people would introduce their friends to him, and the newcomers acted like it was an honor to meet him. Yes, all was good.
All good things must, unfortunately, come to an end. The band Ogy Joe hung around the most, Mink, broke up around the same time as many of his other favorite bands were not playing out much (for various reasons). He got into a new circle of friends, and significantly reduced his ?face time? in the local scene. It wasn?t long before he was back to being nearly a nobody in the scene.
But you can?t stay gone for long before the scene draws you back in. Ogy Joe started going to shows fairly frequently once again, and even completely redesigned his website. Thanks to a slow dial-up connection, he had not yet uploaded the new design, and lost all the hard work when he tried to backup his data onto a new external hard drive. That?s right, he finally got an external hard drive to back up his work, and both the external and internal drives were ?fried? in the backup process.
The website went on hold for quite some time. Ogy Joe found it difficult to find the motivation to redo everything all over again. In the meantime, he was about to get a brand new reason for the website: Ogy Joe Entertainment.
In January of 2006, Ogy Joe?s friend Scott from Full Tilt Auto asked him if he would like to manage their new project, Generation Down. While reluctant at first, Ogy Joe eventually decided that this would be a great new challenge, and accepted the job. On February 18, 2006 (coincidentally, Ogy Joe?s birthday), Generation Down had their first show at the VFW Showplex in Jackson, TN, and Ogy Joe Entertainment was born.
Soon after, Ogy Joe had some other local bands ask if he was willing to help them as well. At first, he declined, as he thought that might be cheating Generation Down. However, he eventually decided that it could be mutually beneficial to all parties, and accepted the offer for some of the bands, but only in a booking/consultation capacity, not fully management.
In October of 2006, three years after its initial conception, OgyJoe.com is being born anew. For information after this point, check the home page, news section, and http://www.myspace.com/OgyJoe.
In addition, Ogy Joe has decided to start his very own internet radio show. The show will feature co-hosts and special guests talking about the local music scene, movies, and anything else his mind can think up. Tune in live, chat, call in, and download the show for later listening.
