I have come here faithfully for you to JUST say a few words in Spanish by an American that goes to Mexico and gets RESPECT because they know I am a Gringa and at least I have tried to learn the language. Just the opposite has happened to me. No one has EVER laughed at me. They just appreciate that you have taken the time to learn their language and they respect you for it. I always say La cuenta Por favor ???? don't know what you are talking about. el checke maybe?????? Both of you need to go enroll in a grammatical class at your local community college or go PAY to take classes. This was supposed to be fun and I thank the 12,000 downloads last month and for being ranked #5 in the top 100 this week. They keep coming back....so I think I will hang onto that and forget about your negative comments....geez......get a life!

Regardless of what that guy says I think you make it very helpful to learn spanish. I moved down to Mexico and live there now, and although my dark complexion makes me appear Mexican, it doesn't help me in anything when I speak english and nothing more. I have been listening to your shows and i appreciate what you have put out here :) with that i said i only have one negative thing to say. My father's woman kind of laughs when she hears the way you say stuff goes together and i ask her why and she says a lot of the stuff you say would make people look at you funny or laugh at you. For example, when you ask for the check, she didn't know what you were talking about, nor do any restaurants here i have been to. They always say "La cuenta por favor" or something like that. Regardless good job and thanks i hope more comes out soon.
what a lousy accent!!

If you want to speak Spanish like an American (although I know La Gringa is Canadian) then just keep listening and imitating her horrible accent. This will be the best way for you to be treated like a "Gringo/Gringa", which by the way is a pejorative name when pronounced by a Mexican. As a Canadian, I feel always insulted when a Mexican calls me that way.
