The Pan African Film Festival - Reviewer: asantewa1 09/24/07 02:24 PM EDT
Full Comment: Your panelist has not done his research. He named a number of current film festivals but failed to mention the Pan African Film Festival which by industry standards is the largest and most prestigious Black Film festival in the US (as opposed to the false claim of ABFF having this description). Over a 12-day period, PAFF screens over 175 Black films from the US, Africa, the Caribbean, So. America, Europe, the So. Pacific and Canada. PAFF is actually 3-4 times as large as African Diaspora and Harlem Film Festivals. Festivals patterned after PAFF. Over 40,000 people attend. You can check out the PAFF at www.PAFF.org PAFF does not cater to Hollywood. PAFF's main interest has always been to choose films that tell positive and realistic films with stories made by and/or about people of African descent. Additionally, PAFF networks with programmers at film festivals in the US and throughout the world. There is something for everyone's taste. We program for adults, teens, children, seniors, LGBT, religious themes, etc. Our films are feature narratives and shorts, documentaries, experimentals, and animations. PAFF is an official Black Heritage Month event for the City of Los Angeles. Coming up on its 16th year, PAFF will take place February 7-18, 2008. Again go to the website www.paff.org and see for yourself.

Giving people the chance to demand better! - Reviewer: mswoo 05/16/07 10:53 PM EDT
Full Comment: 3 guys talking about film, Voyager on Demand is entertaining and conversational with a splash of informational... Perfect for people who care about black cinema and those wanting to learn more about it. Hope it gets as wide an audience as it deserves.
