How has time been perceived in past centuries?

Full Comment:
Before the inventions we take for granted, such as electricity, automobiles, telephones, radio/TV and computers, how did time "feel"? Were people more or less bored? Obviously, time is different for those who are rich and had all their time for socializing and shopping. Also, the human lifespan was dramatically different just one century ago. Did life go by slowly or very quickly? Faster in the city than in the country? Faster or slower in industrialized nations? Faster or slower depending on the political system? I hope to hear answer from this episode.
Perception of Time Throughout Your Life

Time. It's everywhere. It's nowhere. It is a purely human invention, yet it is a definite dimension and physical parameter. We can measure it in many ways: planetary cycles break time into 24 hour periods because of the Earth's orbit around the sun. Physics might measure it with an atomic clock. Other cultures talk of "moons", used shadows, seasons. What is the perception of time for newborn babies? Elderly close to death? Prisoners in solitary confinement. Mega stars who tour the world for years? What are the effects of health, drugs, sex, love, raising children, pain, pleasure, food, drink on time? These are a few questions we'll be trying to answer, each in our own way.
