Full Comment: @bnix: So, by your logic, all those cheapest gas price sites are in violation of the oil companies' private property rights? Tax records in most jurisdictions are public record. Privacy is merely a result of lack of transparency. The genie is out of the bottle on this. To wit: Rev. Wright's G*d D*mn America rant.

Full Comment: I enjoyed this discussion completely. I read Joseph and Zillow go back and forth on blogs all the time and to hear them one on one was awesome. I tend to side with Joe on this issue because individual property rights are what makes America great and to see them erode online is a bit concerning. However, just because someone or some algorithm thinks your property is worth X, doesn't mean it's true. Real estate is only worth what a ready, willing and able buyer and seller agree for it to be worth. It's also unreasonable for us to expect to control what everyone or every algorithm thinks about our property. I trust our free economy to work this out sooner than later.
