We are currently planning our first trip to Italy. We will be going for two weeks starting April 29, 2007. Your talkcast has been a great help in our planning and prioritizing. Thanks for your very easy style. We learn so much each episode. Looking forward to more. Upon our return I'll have some notes to compare. Thanks again.

Thank you for this talkcast. I am going to Italy for the first time, Sept 5-18, and this episode is just in time. Waiting to hear the Basic Italian for Restaurants talkcast.

I love the stories - Episodes 2, 7, 9. Also, #9 is particulary outstanding and sounds like a real professional writer/reader. They're entertaining and interesting. Host has really "been there done that"

Highly recommended. This Talkcast is interesting and informative. Host has been to Italy many times and gives interesting insider information and opinions. Episode 5 gives good ideas on where to stay when in Rome. Episode 1 is very interesting about Florence, where host has been many times. Episode 2 is a fun and real-life story.

Last month, my wife and I honeymooned for a week in Florence (and a week in Rome, a week in Paris, as well as a week in the U.K.) Jules thoughtfully describes Florence from a human perspective. He hits the major sites (Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Boboli Gardens, Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace) and shares insightful food recommendations (e.g., trattorias, avoid the train station fare), including useful translations and sightseeing advice. Let me add to his thoughts on Siena: rent a motor scooter and ride through the Tuscany vineyards--you'll love the countryside. Bill Bryson's book, Neither Here nor There, is somewhat critical of Florence's tourist population--so take heed and go early in the Spring, as we did.
Venice and Rome are most excellent

I have never been to Italy but by listening to the show I have a better idea of what to expect (if I would travel to Italy) and some places to visit while I am there.
