Full Comment: Thoughtful and insightful review of 'The Mist'...for the most part...;) Yes, I'm one of 'those people' you mentioned that has a HUGE problem with the Darabont ending to this film...I HATE IT. I also find it annoying when people make the statement 'the original novella had no ending' due to the fact that I LOVED that ending...it left the reader with a sense of hope, and I personally didn't WANT it all 'tied up with a bow' at the end...that rings FALSE in my book. Same goes for 'explaining the mist'...I don't WANT to know where it came from, just hinting at the 'Arrowhead Project' made it CREEPY and MYSTERIOUS...you explain the origins, it removes that element. As far as this new, depressing and pointless ending goes...I'm fine with Hollywood changing book story lines, I really am. But King's original ending gives you the chance to make the decision for yourself regarding what happens next, and it would work fine in a film. It's crap that it wouldn't. The crescendo of music as he whispers into his sons ear 'Hope', and fading out on his sons sleeping face, is a damn good ending... There was hope going to the pharmacy. There's was hope in escaping from the store. There is hope in driving to Hartford. HOPE, not a 'and they lived happily ever after', but hope. The way Darabont disposed of the characters at the end didnt fit them...they would NEVER do this, its cowardly...and so was this 'new ending'...it exists merely for cheap 'shock' value, and it is definitely NOT 'King'...King never once resorted to such maudlin, pointless garbage...if characters suffer/die at the end of his stories, there was a REASON...irony, justice, whatever...but NEVER just for cheap effect. K

Full Comment: This podcast has a bunch of old men trying hard the grasp at their long past youth. These men were around to see the Coolidge administration. They sit at home read comics, take heart pills, then watch Matlock. Mark the dirtiest of the old men, usually gets some pretty cool guests on, so it's worth a listen.

Full Comment: I can't believe I'm the first to review this livecast! This is easily one of the better shows here on Talkshoe. Mark Walters does an excellent job of hosting and brings some great guests on to chat and wax about comics, movies and a host of other things. Along with regular guest Scott Kurtz this show definitely will amuse you for two hours.
