Using TalkShoe on Meebo

There have been a lot of questions about using the hot new TalkShoe application on meebo. Meebo is an “IM aggregator” meaning that you can chat/message with people who are on different IM clients (Yahoo, Google, AOL, etc.). TalkShoe has worked with meebo to integrate live group voice calling.

To use the TalkShoe application on meebo:

1. Go to www.meebo.com and sign up or login to your account. You will need to form your buddie list with your friends.

2. Start an IM session with some of the people on your “Buddie List”. There you can text chat. You can click their name, or drag/drop them, etc.

3. In the IM window, click the “Rocket” icon to get to the applications. There are now four (4) applications. The bottom one is “Group Voice Calling” (that’s TalkShoe). We call these calls voice calls “Community Calls”

4. You will be taken to a new window where the TalkShoe application will appear next to a meebo chat window. You can then invite (upper right corner face icon) any of your meebo IM friends to join you and a message will be sent.

5. On the screen will appear a phone number to call (+1) 724-444-7444. Then you enter the Call ID and # on your phone, then you enter the PIN and #. All this information is in the window.

You will now see a computer icon for those people who are in the room, and a phone icon once people are connected via phone. The “host” of the Community Call has the ability to mute/unmute people by clicking on their phone icon. Others can mute/unmute themselves with *6 on their phone.

Have fun Calling :-)
