HOSTS, check your TalkShoe imbedded Widgets and Badges to be sure they are…

| Author: TalkShoe Support | In Announcements, Host Lounge News, In The News, Podcasting News, Support, TalkShoe Tips Print This Post

HOSTS, please check your TalkShoe imbedded Widgets and Badges to be sure they are currently working! There have been several reports from hosts who have found that the Widgets and Badges they have imbedded in their web page is not working today.

This appears to be occurring with Widgets and Badges which were created and inserted prior to August 20, 2010. Widgets and Badges created before this date use a third party protocol provided by Clear Spring and it has been announced that Clear Spring will no longer support that capability. As a result of that the TalkShoe Technical Team redesigned the Widgets and Badges so that they don’t use Clear Spring in August of this year. Therefore, if your Widget or Badge was deployed prior to August 20, 2010, it should be replaced.

Replace those old Widgets and Badges by going to your TalkShoe Show Page and clicking the Widgets and Badges link on the right side of the page. This will take you to a page where you can choose a format and obtain the code that should be imbedded in to your web page.
If you have any questions send an email to support@talkshoe.com or go to www.talkshoesupport.com and view the video which describes imbedded Widgets and Badges.

Thank you for your continued use and support of the TalkShoe system!

Kind regards,
The TalkShoe Technical Team

NEW “On-Demand” Talkcasting

| Author: Dave Nelsen | In Announcements, Host Lounge News, TalkShoe Tips, What's New Print This Post

With the New Year, TalkShoe has launched On Demand Talkcasting®, an enhanced version of the Instant Talkcasting capability released just last month. Thanks to your feedback, now it’s even more like Twittering® with your voice (and optionally, up to 300 friends’ voices too). Grab your cell phone, call into TalkShoe, run your live On Demand Talkcast and — zoom — it’s available to the world. How cool is that?

As before, you can do a movie review as you leave the theater, inform your audience about a breaking news story, or tell your friends about a hot new restaurant while the taste is still on your tongue, and now it’s even easier!

You’ll need a TalkShoe account and an existing Call Series to get started. To configure it for “On Demand” operation, go to the Call Series page (where your recordings are shown):

1) Click the “Update” tab.

2) Check the box labeled “Create Episode on Demand”.

3) Optionally, check the “Automatic” recording choice to have recording start when you connect (and end automatically when you disconnect).

4) Save your changes.

Then you’re set. Just call into TalkShoe normally. Your call will go live automatically each and every time. By the way, you can also control a variety of Talkcasting functions from your phone:

… *2*1 – Starts the recording (if not set for automatic mode)
… 50# - Mute All (except the host)
… 51# - Unmute All
… *6 – Self mute/unmute (works for host and for individual participants)
… *2*1 – Ends recording
… Hang-up – ends audio streaming

Two final tips: a) If you set your PIN to match your cell phone number, you’ll be logged in automatically after entering just your Call ID, and b) If you have your audience opt for text alerts, they’ll receive a text message immediately when you start every On Demand call (have them click the TXT ALRTS - SMASH button on your call page).

Thanks. Keep the great ideas and suggestions coming and we’ll keep improving TalkShoe!

Get a badge WIDGET for any Talkcast on your Blog, website, Facebook, MySpace, etc.

| Author: TalkShoe Team | In Announcements, TalkShoe Tips, What's New Print This Post

TalkShoe now has lots of badge widgets available for you. What’s a widget? It’s a small “player” for any Talkcast - not just your Talkcasts. The widget lists all previously recorded shows, upcoming shows, and highlights when a Talkcast is LIVE. It’s one of the best possible ways to get your, or anyone else’s Talkcast listened to, and increase Live participation.

Go to ANY Talkcast page and click on “Create a Badge”. It’s really easy. You can add widgets to your Blogs, websites, Facebook, MySpace, Ning, Google, etc. etc. Why not create one right now!

Inviting your friends to a Live Talkcast

| Author: TalkShoe Team | In TalkShoe Tips Print This Post

There are many ways to get more live participants and friends on your live Talkcasts. Here are some of the more popular ones used: 1) use the TalkShoe Invitation function when you create a new episode, and again a day before the Talkcast, and again right before the Talkcast, 2) post your show info on your MySpace, Facebook, Blogs, etc., 3) email people from you email lists - expect a 5-10% return rate, 4) Twitter your Twitter friends, 5) put Talkcast info in your email signature, and 6) pick up the telephone and call them!
